Vandy Vape Capstone RDA Preview | Waterfall Squonking Action

Vandy Vape Capstone Intro

The Vandy Vape Capstone is a 24 mm dual-coil RDA, that can also be built in single-coil mode. It is designed by VapeHappy, a vape shop based in Las Vegas who have been also reviewing stuff on YouTube for a while now. And the VapeHappy guys had some tricks up their sleeve for their first RDA — it features an innovative squonking design, an extra top cap and a unique build deck to name a few.

The name of the Capstone comes from the last piece on top of a pyramid, the one that completes the construction. Pyramids can be found all around the Capstone RDA. From the top cap, which features a textured design comprising of many pyramid shaped elements, to the large pyramid-shaped build deck.

Capstone-rda-2

We have seen squonking from the bottom, raised squonk pins, even squonking from the top in RDAs that take vertical builds. But the Capstone offers a new waterfall squonking option by channeling the e-liquid directly on top of the coils, distributing it evenly over the wick. The liquid travels through the build deck and exits through the holes that are placed on an opening midway through it. This design aims at speeding up the process of waiting for the liquid to travel from the bottom of the wick to the coils.

The main top cap of the Capstone features an interesting airflow system. The trapezoid-shaped airflow can be closed halfway horizontally, directing the air on the lower part of the coil. Or it can be closed completely on the one side for single-coil builds. On the other hand, the extra frosted PC cap has non-adjustable dual airflow and is designed with cloud chucking and dual coil builds in mind.

The extras that come with the Capstone RDA will be appreciated by vapers

The pyramid shaped spring-loaded deck is secured in place with a hybrid flathead/Philips screw. It looks like a very easy deck to work with, especially when using the included tool to measure coil length – mark my words, we will start seeing this tool in many future products. The layers of the pyramid reminded me a bit of the LiT RDA, but the LiT has two screws and a different shaped block.

The Capstone RDA combines many interesting ideas, and the extras that come with it will certainly be appreciated by vapers – everybody likes an extra top cap and a coil-measuring tool. What do you think of the Capstone RDA? Let us know in the comment section.
